August, 2009

I guess you can see that bears aren't much for blogging since I haven't posted anything here since March.
:-)    I've been getting ready for the Body Mind and Spirit Expo in Raleigh, North Carolina.   From there, I'll be working with Sandra Ingerman in her Teacher Training program in Santa Fe, then will rush back to Asheville North Carolina for another Body Mind Spirit Expo with Michael Velasquez.   Watch the Healing Hearts web site as our Shamanic and Consciousness programs unfold.   2010 is going to be a very exciting year!

Mad As a Hornet

Have you ever heard anyone say, "I'm mad as a hornet."   This morning when I got to my car, there was a dead Japanese Hornet laying right on the sidewalk on the passenger's side . . . a whopper of a hornet.

Any time I find something like this in nature, I ask myself,  "What lesson is this animal or plant trying to teach me today?", or in this case, "Why do I need hornet medicine?"     Certainly not because I was "mad as a hornet."  Quite the contrary.   The sun was shining brightly on a beautiful day and I was singing when I left the house.

The wasp family in general teaches order, construction, community, involvement, development, progress, team-work and productivity.  Hornet teaches us to use our female warrior energy, and to understand sisterhood, communal living and female societies.

Seeing a member of the wasp family also means that a  challenge or nuisance may be up ahead.

Spirit Guides and Heroes

I was traveling through Georgia today, listening to the radio and looking forward to home and "The Boys" (my pomeranians), when BAM!! . . . my rear passenger tire blew out on the busiest multilane section of I-75 in downtown Atlanta!   I managed to safely pull off to the side of the Interstate and used my cell phone to call for a wrecker.   While I was waiting, a big yellow truck pulled up behind me and a very pleasant young woman got out.  She introduced herself as being with the Heroes program and offered to assist me.  I thanked her for her help, and told her I had called for a wrecker.   She gave me her card and said if I needed her, call her.

Not two minutes later, another big yellow truck pulled up behind me and another Hero (Robert) introduced himself.  He suggested that I cancel the wrecker, that he would be happy to change my tire.   So I made the call and we began to search for the release that lowered the spare tire, and for the jack that were both very well hidden in my vehicle!

While we were searching, the wrecker arrived.   The driver got out and began to assist the Hero, knowing that the call for wrecker service had been cancelled.   He said the important thing was to get me off the side of the road and safely on my way.

The tire was quickly changed and I was on my way within 45 minutes of blowing out.  I was very well taken care of by not one, but THREE, guardian angels!!

These three people are shining examples of what it means to be a Good Samaritan.   This could have been a traumatic experience for me . . . strange town, busy multilane interstate, and I didn't know how to change a tire.

So I'd like to thank the Creator and my helping spirits for taking such good care of me.   I'd also like to award three BIG KUDOS to the two men and one woman who helped me today . . . two Heroes and one wrecker driver that cared more about me than money.

If you are in Georgia and you have trouble on the roadside, call a Hero at 511.   I also happily recommend B. J.'s Wrecker Service at 770-846-3359.

Happy 2009!  This New Year has been a rainy one, and this morning, the creek was high.  When I was a little kid, I wondered sometimes whether the creek would get so high that it would reach our house.  I could imagine it surrounding us . . . . higher and higher . . . until we finally escaped in my Dad's aluminum fishing boat with the Johnson motor.  Watching the creek rise was always a big, exciting adventure.

My first impulse this morning was to ride over to the dam and see the water raging out of the turbines. The water was so high at the dam, the road to the public parking area was blocked.  I watched the turbulent river for some time before I drove on in to work.  As I was driving through the rain, a brilliant rainbow appeared in the clouds behind me.  It was beautiful to behold . . . a reminder of a promise made a long time ago.

Now that I'm grown up, it's not so exciting when the storms of life are raging and the creek is getting high.  2008 was a difficult year for many who faced tough economic times.  And yet, nature reminds us that no storm lasts forever.  The clouds dissipate, the waters recede, and the beautiful rainbow remains.

Wishing you all love and light in 2009 with many beautiful rainbows.
